Hourly Comic Day

Last week (February 1st) was Hourly Comic Day and this was my third 'go'. I always learn new things when I attempt challenges, which is why I enjoy doing them. I learn that, especially with a comic you may have to take with you (ie that is portable!) to not try and do complicated ink washes. Also, keep things simple!

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool comic nut, who loves to draw, read and travel. When there's time I also love rpging Palladium system games.

I have a background in animation, and currently work with Brain Power Studio in the design department. I'm also a freelance writer and children's book illustrator.

I have enjoyed taking part in Scott McCloud's 24 Hour Comics Day challenge six times and this year participated in John Campbell's Hourly Comics Day challenge.

I run the monthly Comic Jam in Ottawa, ON Canada. If you're ever in town, feel free to drop by on the last Wednesday of the month at the Shanghai Restaurant (651 Somerset St. W.) 7pm-10pm (except December!)

Hiya Ray! It was sooo nice you could drop by the Jam last night ^__^
Thanks for the compliments! I've been behind posting here..sigh--must--catch--up! It was a blast doing the Hourlies; I'd only found out about them last year, 20 days _after_ the challenge started (oops!) So, I was determined to 'give it a go' this year...
Am really loving your work: I had good memories of your stuff from College, which of course was mostly black & white back then (we were animating!) Now it's all lovely, vibrant colour with very expressive poses & characters. Nice going!

thanks as well. the way i see it, the world is rich and alive with so many beautiful colours that i want to capture them in my own art.
